Holy Archangels Mission, Annapolis, MD welcomed His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, for his first archpastoral visit - 02/24/13

Holy Archangels Mission, Annapolis, MD welcomed His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, for his first archpastoral visit February 23-24, 2013. The growing community received a Church Planting Grant for 2013 from the Orthodox Church in America’s Department of Evangelization.

“Metropolitan Tikhon gave of his time and energy to encourage the faithful of the mission in their outreach efforts to build a church in Annapolis in spirit and in numbers that would become a place of healing and growth in Christ for all,” said Priest Robert Miclean, mission rector and chaplain at Annapolis College. “In addition to serving Great Vespers with the Litya and the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, Metropolitan Tikhon met with members of the mission council, tonsured Noel Brockett, now Reader Zenon, for service in the community, and greatly encouraged the faithful by answering questions and sharing His vision for growing the Church and witnessing to the timeless truth of the Orthodox Faith in the city of Annapolis and throughout our region and country.”

Thirty-one mission members attended Great Vespers, after which a BBQ dinner was served. On Sunday, forty faithful gathered for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, after which a festive meal was held.
